Stop making empty claims, start protecting forests

A new Greenpeace report reveals that Kimberly-Clark devastated the Kenogami Forest while promoting itself as a leader in environmental and social responsibility.

Write to CEO Thomas Falk and head of corporate communications David Dickson and let them know what you think about companies that say one thing and do another. It’s time for Mr. Falk and Mr. Dickson to stop talking about how sustainable their company is, and start taking real action to protect forests and benefit communities.

Dear Mr. Falk and Mr. Dickson,

I was alarmed to learn that Kimberly-Clark clearcut massive areas of intact and old-growth forest, including areas that are critical threatened species habitat, while promoting itself as a leader in environmental sustainability.

I was equally alarmed to learn that Kimberly-Clark purchases large amounts of pulp from forestry operations that are causing serious social conflict, while promoting itself as a leader in social responsibility.

As long as you continue to make empty claims like these, I will not trust your company or any of its public commitments. And as long as you continue to buy from logging operations that are environmentally destructive and socially irresponsible, I will not buy Kleenex, Cottonelle, or any other Kimberly-Clark product.

Sincerely,
