September 19th, Toronto Kleercut activists visited the University of Toronto campus to spread the word of how Kimberly-Clark continues to destroy Canada’s Boreal forest. The enthusiastic activists dressed up as trees, held a banner, handed out leaflets and spoke to students who were interested in hearing more about the Boreal forest and the campaign against Kimberly-Clark, maker of Kleenex tissue products.
We arrived at 12pm with hundreds of leaflets and excited to start our event, the tree costumes were a definite hit with everyone that came. The costumes and our banner made us so noticeable that we couldn’t hold on to the leaflets for long. Hundreds of leaflets were handed out within an hour, we reached out to so many people within such a short time. This is exactly the kind of hype we need for the lead up to the Boreal Day of Action. The University of Toronto activity was such a success that this will not be the last time we visit the students there. Bigger and better activities can be organized with the help of others in the Kleercut groups, lets share some ideas.
Cheers
Earl
