Forest Crimes Unit activist reports back from the Kleenex Forest Destruction Tour

Earl removes products from shelves

For those who do not know me, my name is Earl and I volunteered with with the Kleenex Forest Destruction Tour at local grocery stores in Ontario last week. I have never had a volunteer experience like this with the great enthusiasm from everyone in the tour to reach out to consumers and store managers in Southern Ontario. It’s amazing to see the amount of organization it takes to ensure the events in each city ran as smoothly as they did. Best of all is the biggest creative Kleercut box that I have ever seen, which we can now put up in record time. This is something everyone involved in the tour should be proud of.

When I was asked to join the tour I made sure I would be able to attend every event. I have, for the past few months been going to grocery stores and sticking Kleercut stickers on Kleenex brand products and handing out leaflets at my school. This is why I had to be on this tour. It has been very exciting to speak with consumers about the Boreal Forest and to see them shocked at how Kimberly-Clark is destroying our ancient forests. It’s a big inspiration when they let me know they will never buy Kleenex brand tissue paper again.

I have also had the opportunity to enter a couple grocery stores as part of the Forest Crime Unit and with the Crime Scene Evidence boxes to remove Kleenex products from their shelves.

I am hoping that the managers of these stores will think twice of stocking ancient forest products and send them back to Kimberly-Clark. The Forest Crimes Unit has been successful, we arrive to get a very important job done and we have reached out to thousands of people. Best of all? We’ve had fun doing it.

Every time I hear about fellow volunteers adopting grocery stores or making phone calls to their local store manager is a great inspiration for me. I hope I have done the same for you. Let’s keep up the amazing work and kick some KC butt.

Earl.
