Inspiration and education in Guelph

Inspiration and education

That is what the Kleenex Forest Destruction Tour is all about. It’s about educating and inspiring activists in the communities we are visiting this week.

Handing out information in Guelph

Yesterday, we met with a handful of activists at a café in Guelph, Ontario. We showed them a slideshow of some images from intact boreal forests and magnificent wildlife. We also showed them images of the clearcuts that are the end result of the logging conducted to create Kleenex tissue products. We are not trying to sensationalize this issue. Rather, we are showing concerned Canadians that clearcutting of ancient forests is really, actually, verifiably, taking place here in Canada. We are trying to inspire these same activists to take action in their own communities against companies Kimberly-Clark that are wiping away forests that have existed for over 10,000 years. And it’s working.

Each day this week we have had local activists join us on our various stops in London, Waterloo, Hamilton and today in Guelph. Their excitement and enthusiasm is contagious and it’s very very inspiring. It gives me hope that we will be able victorious in this campaign against the world’s largest tissue product manufacturer.

Inspiration and education times 600 hundred

This tour is also about educating and inspiring shoppers and consumers. Today, we distributed about 600 leaflets and brochures at the local Ultra Food and Drug in Guelph. The comments and discussions that we have had with shoppers going into the stores and in the aisles where the Forest Crimes Unit has been removing Kleenex tissue products from shelves have been very positive, supportive and grateful. Grateful that we are there to open up people’s eyes to the state of ancient forests like the Boreal. It’s very inspiring.

Tomorrow the inspiring and wildlife successful Kleenex Forest Destruction Tour of Southern Ontario wraps up in Mississauga.

Perhaps we’ll be inspiring a community near you soon?
